Madeline Black

Teaching Fellow, 5th Grade

Madeline has worked at Embers since 2016 as a substitute teacher and aftercare staff member prior to her appointment as teaching fellow. As a dedicated member of student government at both Willows Academy (class president) and the University of Dallas (class senator), the emphasis on character development at Embers has always deeply resonated with Madeline. It is her belief that this development in children requires the presence of adults who themselves have a strong personal character, and she is firmly committed to modeling and growing in her own human virtue to provide a positive influence for her students. She works each day to ignite a purposeful spirit within her students.

Madeline is a member of St. Philip the Apostle parish in Northfield, IL, and enjoys spending her free time being creative through scrapbooking, painting, baking, or gardening, all to the tune of folk music. She comes from a large family of 5 siblings, 10 nieces and nephews, 45 aunts and uncles, and 60 cousins – many of whom also have a connection to Embers!
