4th & 5th SERVICE PROJECT

Embers 4th and 5th grade students visited Feed My Starving Children in Libertyville on Thursday. They helped prepare packaged food to be delivered around the world.

REMIND: TEXT ALERTS

TEXT ALERTS FOR SEVERE WEATHER, SCHOOL CLOSING, ETC. 

Embers is partnering with REMIND to provide our parents text alerts for emergency school closings due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. 

These text messages will go out in addition to the email that all parents will receive from Teacherease. We have used all of the parent cell phone numbers that were provided in your TADS registration.

Please be on the lookout for a text message from ‘Remind/Embers Academy’ and opt in to the service if you are interested in receiving text alerts. Any questions? Call Mrs. Thursby in the School Office. 

Embers is also included in the Emergency Closing site online and on TV.

1st GRADE THANKSGIVING

All 1st grade parents are invited to join us on Monday, Nov. 20th  at 2:15 p.m. for a special Thanksgiving program presented by Mrs. Maso’s 1st grade students. 

WINTER GEAR NEEDED

All students will be bringing home a large blue bag today. Please use the blue bag for SNOW BOOTS, a hat, gloves, leggings or sweatpants for girls, and/or snow pants. Because weather conditions can change so rapidly, we ask that the bag be at school every day. The bag can be left at school during the week. Also, please make sure your student’s name is on their uniform and outerwear. Thank you!

THANKSGIVING ART

The Kindergarten students had fun making Thanksgiving turkeys in Mrs. Walsh’s Art class on Thursday. 

NOVENA @ ST. MARY / ANGELS

St. Mary of the Angels Church at 1850 N. Hermitage Avenue in Chicago will once again host a special Novena to the Immaculate Conception from Thursday, Nov. 30th to Friday, Dec. 8th. Mass each evening is at 7:15 p.m. Several priests will hear confessions starting 30 minutes before each Mass, with recitation of the rosary 25 minutes before each Mass.

Embers families and friends are invited to join Embers K-5th grade students who have been asked to sing at the 7:15 p.m. Novena Mass (Sunday anticipation), on Saturday, Dec. 2nd. Attire: Embers uniforms.

Embers families will sit in the front of the church, left of the main altar. Parking is available in the church lot.

USBORNE BOOK FAIR

Looking for great Christmas gifts for your children? Come to the Usborne Book Fair at Embers on Thursday, Nov. 30th and Friday, Dec. 1st. Make sure to put your name in the free raffle for books! All books ordered will arrive within two weeks.

HAPPENINGS @ TWA & NRP

Willows Academy in Des Plaines will be hosting their fall fundraiser, the Holiday Prelude, this Saturday, Nov. 18th at Park Ridge Country Club at 6 p.m. Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity to support your daughter’s future school!

Northridge Prep Parent Association will host a Heart & Hearth Craft Fair on Wednesday, Nov. 29th from 8:30 a.m. – noon. NRP is only 3 minutes from Embers. Stop by NRP, check out the Craft Fair, and while you’re there…

Fr. Leo will hold an Advent Meditation in NRP’s chapel on Wednesday, Nov. 29th from 9:15 – 9:45 a.m. All Embers families and friends are invited to attend.  

CHRISTMAS PARTIES

Soon after we return from Thanksgiving break, our thoughts turn toward Christmas. Knowing it’s a very busy time of year, we wanted to give you ample time to plan ahead. Embers K-5th grade classroom parties have been MOVED to Friday, Dec. 15th so we can celebrate Mass on our last day of school in 2017.

There will be NO After Care and NO Chess Scholars on Friday, Dec. 15th  due to the  faculty and staff Christmas party at 4 p.m. Please make arrangements now to have your students picked up at 3:05 p.m.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

As we come together in grateful reflection, please know that we consider you and your family a bountiful blessing.

Following a full day of school on Tuesday, Nov. 21st, there will be no school next Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. There will also be no classroom or school newsletters next week. School resumes on Monday, Nov. 27th!
