Our K-5 students explored art this week by creating individual tiles to be part of our school tapestry. Their beautiful artwork came together as a true masterpiece!

Reminder: Update Required!
|
|
|
As a reminder, everyone is required to change their Username on the myEmbers! platform in order to maintain access to myEmbers! (which includes your student’s classroom information, grades, and report cards). You should have received an email with a Blackbaud ID invitation yesterday which will allow you to make this change. Please refer to the instructions below if you have any questions about this update.
If this update is not completed by September 27th, you will no longer have access to myEmbers! and will not be able to view your child’s information. Thank you for your prompt attention to this and please contact Karen Reardon at kreardon@embersacademy.org with any questions or concerns.

Thank you to our Embers community for your patience while we smooth out the bumps in our new dismissal system. Please know that we are aware of the long wait for many and are actively working on resolving this issue.
We have modified the dismissal for parents who choose to walk-up to better serve them, as well as those parents in vehicles. Please keep in mind that our priority is the safety of the students, drivers and staff in the parking lots. Additionally, it is at the request of the Village of Niles that vehicles are called first to best alleviate long car lines and avoid vehicles idling on Greenwood Ave.
We ask for your continued support and understanding as we work through the solution. We will keep you updated.

Our Kindergarten classes celebrated Mexican Independence Day on Friday by creating some fabulous hats!

Please take note of the modified format for our EDP after school program:
- 3:25pm – attendance taken of all students in EDP
- 3:30pm – go outside, weather permitting, for 10-15 minutes
- 3:45pm – students return inside. All student will have a snack, while 2nd – 5th grades begin homework.
- 4:30pm – groups come together and will go outside, weather permitting, or remain indoors in Mrs. Baehl’s PK classroom
Beginning Monday, September 19, Homework Club will be relocated to the west wing in Ms. Zavacki’s 2nd grade classroom.

Sparks Sports
Basketball
Get ready, Sparks, basketball registration will start next week. We are excited to get this season rolling, but first – we need coaches!! We’re calling on all parents to channel their inner Phil Jackson and help our Sparks foster a love of basketball. Please contact Mr. Sadlowski at rsadlowski@embersacademy.org if you are able to coach this year!

Congratulations to the Weiske family on the arrival of Gordon Jude Weiske, born on September 14 at 10:44pm.
Gordon is joining big sister Annie (PK4) and big brother John Patrick.

Absence / Late Arrival / Early Dismissal:
If your child will be absent from school or needs to arrive / depart outside of the normal school hours, please notify the student’s teacher and front office by 8:00 am. You may notify the office by phone (847-518-1185) or email Mrs. Sylvia Casaletto at scasaletto@embersacademy.org.
Tardy:
Students may enter the building from 7:55 – 8:10 a.m. If your student is arriving after 8:10 a.m., they will need to sign in at the front desk. Students will receive a slip to deliver to their teacher and the tardy will be recorded.

If you have not already done so, please submit copies of these documents to the Embers School Office.
- Birth and Baptismal (if applicable) Certificates
- Medical Forms (Required for K and new students in all grades.)
- Dental (Required for K and 2nd Grade students.)
- Vision (Required for K and new students to IL)
- Food Allergy Form
If your child has a food allergy, it is required that you please fill out and return the Illinois Food Allergy Form and provide the school office and your classroom teacher any necessary medication your student needs (including Benadryl or EpiPens).

Rosewood Foundation (formerly Fire Foundation of Greater Chicago) seeks to provide students with all types of learning needs the opportunity to receive a Catholic education. Rosewood Foundation is providing Embers with a grant this school year to support the learning needs of several students.
