HO… HO… HO!

PK3 students sang Christmas songs, played games, had a ‘grab bag’ and treats at their Christmas party on Thursday. All 1st-5th grade students enjoyed “Spirit Day” Friday today, ending the day with class parties. Special thanks to all the Room Parents for hosting the fun Christmas activities and games!

SPECIAL VISITOR in K

Mrs. DeShon visited the Kindergarten students today with her amazing collection of nutcrackers. She explained why they are made and how they work. She also cracked nuts and read stories to the students.
Reminder: Kindergarten students will have their Christmas party on Monday.

COOKIES WITH SANTA

All preschool and younger children are invited to have Cookies with Santa on Monday, Dec. 18th from 10 – 11 a.m. in OLR’s Paluch Hall. The children will enjoy Christmas Read Aloud, Photos with Santa, and Christmas Caroling. Parents, please feel free to invite neighbors and friends with young children!

PROGRESS REPORTS HOME

Progress reports can be found today in your oldest child’s Friday folder. Remember, you can always check grades or homework on Teacherease!

ST. LUCY VISITS EMBERS

St. Lucy (Mrs. Smith) visited all the K-5th students this week to talk about how she became a saint, why she wore candles on her head, and passed out the special cookie associated with her. St. Lucy’s feast day was on Wednesday, Dec. 13th.

PK4-5th CHRISTMAS CONCERT

Embers Christmas Concert for all PK4-5th grade students will be held at Northridge Prep on Tuesday, Nov. 19th at 6:30 p.m. NRP is located 5 minutes north of Embers at 8320 N. Ballard Road in Niles. Parents, please have students arrive at 6:15 p.m. 

Concert attire:

  • PK4: Dress Clothes
  • Kindergarten- 5th: Black Dress Pants or Skirts; fancy Red, Green or White Tops; Dark Brown or Black Dress Shoes.
    (No t-shirts or casual clothes please!)
Students will also be provided props, but the following grade levels should plan on bringing:
  • 4th Grade: Sunglasses 
  • 5th Grade: Winter Scarves
  • Mass Choir: Fun Christmas Socks

RED & GREEN DAY: Dec. 20th

An All-School, Out-of-Uniform, Red & Green Day is planned for our last day of school on Wednesday, Dec. 20th. Students, please follow the Jeans Day guidelines and wear something red and/or green. Dismissal for Christmas vacation is at 3:05 p.m. following our All-School Mass at 2 p.m.
After-Care will be provided until 5:30 p.m.

DENNIS LOCATION CHANGE

Christmas vacation is the perfect time to look at your student’s uniforms and check for needed repairs or updates. Anyone interested in purchasing new items through Dennis Uniform Company can go online at dennisuniforms.com or visit them at their Mount Prospect location. Please note that the Mount Prospect location will be closing in February. Beginning March 1, 2018, the Mount Prospect store will be consolidated into the Chicago store.

A SPECIAL SPANISH CLASS

All the K-3rd grade students enjoyed a very special Spanish class that included a pinata with candy on Tuesday, to celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
