Tonight’s the Night We Tackle Tech!

If you’re still working on your technology action plan, don’t miss tonight’s event. Mr. Fagan, Dr. Williams, and a panel of experienced parents will help you feel prepared – not petrified! to help your child face a world of digital demands.

Walk-Ins Welcome!

Bring your friends and join us for a great evening. (Registration for babysitting has now closed.)

October’s Virtue: Friendship

Our 1st grade classes did a wonderful job on Friday teaching us about October’s Virtue, Friendship. We learned about the Hero of the Month, Mr. Rogers, enjoyed listening to 1st grade sing “You’ve Got a Friend in Me”, and were reminded what it means to be a true friend!

PK Firehouse Fieldtrip

In celebration of Fire Prevention Week, October 9-15, our PK3 & PK4 classes took a field trip to the local firehouse. They saw a firefighter put on all his gear, observed the different tools on the firetruck, and took a tour of the fire house.

A Successful Dismissal Week

Thank you to our Embers families for supporting our new dismissal system. It has only been a week, but we have seen some wonderful improvements, including:

  • Pickup time shortened to under 8 minutes (previously as long as 30 minutes!)
  • Impressive behavior from students in all grades as they implemented the ‘See and Point’ procedure
  • Safe and aware driving from our families while in the parking lot
  • Almost all parents and students successfully off-campus by 3:15 p.m.
  • Having families utilize both Greenwood exits in addition to Normal Avenue has improved the flow of traffic

Thank you for your support during this transition!

Sweet Goodbyes

Starting this week, we kindly ask parents to allow their students to walk to their lockers and classrooms all by themselves. We ask that you say your ‘sweet goodbyes’ in the drop-off line or by walking them only to the front circle doorway. Enabling them to accomplish this small task will help reinforce their confidence in themselves as an Embers Spark.  Teachers are there to guide them to ensure they learn this morning routine.

Prepositional Poets

On Tuesday, our 5th grade classes became ‘Propositional Poets’ by writing and illustrating prepositional poems based on their lives.
From picking out puppies, to visiting France, to seeing wreckage from the Titanic, it was a wonderful display of their creativity!

One Year with US

Our 5th grade students threw Mr. Boville a party this week to celebrate his first full year in the US. We are delighted to have him as an integral part of our Embers community!

Basketball
Basketball signups are now closed and the season will start this week. Let’s go, Sparks!

2022 Enhanced Lockdown Drill

On Friday, October 28th, Embers will be holding a required Enhanced Lockdown Drill. The drill addresses an active threat inside our building and evaluates the preparedness of school personnel and students for responding to this type of event.  Please be assured that the drill:

  • Does not include any simulations that mimic an active shooter event,
  • Is announced in advance to all school personnel and students,
  • Includes content that is age and developmentally appropriate,
  • Emphasizes to students the need to listen to adults and follow instructions.

You can help prepare your children for this drill by reminding them of the need to listen to the teachers and other adults at school who will tell them what to do. If applicable, please remind your children that, at Embers, we do not talk about school violence involving guns or shooting, to maintain the innocence of our students.

Thank you for your cooperation and support of this important emergency procedure!

Sign up now to reserve your spot and compete for the “Best Decorated” trunk!
