Our Back to School Fair will be held on Thursday, August 29, from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. This casual, open house-style event welcomes families to stop by during the afternoon and:
- Visit the classrooms of your student(s)
- Meet the teachers (Teacher assignments coming soon!)
- Drop off school supplies
- Stop by our lobby booths to get information on myEmbers!, our new extracurricular offerings, and more!
Individual parent/teacher conferences will not be held during Fair. Students in our PK classes are asked to attend with their parents while attendance is optional for students in grades K-5. Please note that teachers will not be discussing classroom instruction during the Back to School Fair. Educational information will be outlined at the parents’ only Curriculum Night, on Thursday, September 19.
We are excited to have our families back on campus!

Required Reading Reminder
Students have one month left to finish their required reading book for this fall. As a reminder, all students entering Kindergarten – 5th Grade have one required book to read this summer. These books will be discussed in class when students return in the Fall.

Families looking for additional literary enrichment are encouraged to reference our list of optional books that are appropriate for each grade level. This reference can be found HERE.

Children grow quickly! Now is a great time to ensure that your students have proper-fitting uniform pieces. Beginning with the first day of school, students must wear the required Embers school uniform. A complete list of dress code requirements can be found in the Parent Handbook.

There are two updates to our Dress Code this year:
- P.E. Uniform (4th-5th grade): includes the red Dennis spirit shirt with Embers logo (the same shirt that is used for our monthly spirit days), Navy Dennis unisex gym shorts with Embers logo, and (optional) plain navy sweatpants for the cooler months. Students will change into P.E. uniforms during the school day. More information will be available at the Back to School Fair.
- Gym shoes: one pair of gym shoes will be left at school for P.E. and recess
Uniform pieces are available for purchase through Dennis Uniform. Dennis provides several convenient ways to shop, including: in-store, by phone, and online, using School Code G24GV.

Can You Lend a Hand?
Michael Gray, who admirably leads our Embers Dads Club, has organized a Dads Club Workday on Saturday, August 17 at the school. Michael is looking for dads willing to help with various projects around the school–some painting, landscaping, wall hanging, and the like. Whether you’re a highly skilled professional or a novice willing to help, we could use your hands and muscle. (And there will be lots of food and fellowship, too!) Sign up here. Or contact Michael here.
