We look forward to having our Sparks back on campus on Tuesday, September 8! Please note that there will be NO Extended Day Program (EDP) offered this day and all students must be picked up at 11:30 a.m. Preschool students in our 3-day program will begin school on Wednesday, September 9th.

Our Back to School Fair will be held on Wednesday, September 2, from 3:00 – 6:30 p.m. This casual, open house-style event welcomes families to stop by during the afternoon and:
- Visit the classrooms of your student(s).
- Meet the teachers (Teacher assignments coming soon!).
- Drop off school supplies.
- Drop off required medical forms.
- Learn more about our Fall extracurricular programs.
Students in our Preschool classes are asked to attend with their parents, while student attendance is optional for grades K-5.
We are excited to see all our families!

Please note that teachers will not be discussing classroom instruction or holding parent-teacher conferences during the Back to School Fair. Educational information will be outlined at the parents-only Curriculum Night, on Thursday, September 24.

This Week: Gently Used Uniform Sale
Tuesday, Aug. 18 & Wednesday, Aug. 19
10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
This week, we will host our annual Used Uniform Sale. The donated inventory (thank you, parents!!) has been sorted and there is a nice selection of quality pieces for your students. Families are asked to contribute what they are able for the uniforms they select. Only cash and checks will be accepted.

Lands’ End Uniform Update
Every year, Lands’ End sees a significant increase in order volume during this busy season. Many inventory items are available, and their team is working diligently to process and ship orders quickly, but families are encouraged to place orders as soon as possible to avoid delays.

Marlas Lunch Registration Opens Monday
Embers’ hot lunch program is provided by Marlas Brown Bag Lunch. Marlas partners with local vendors to provide fresh and delicious lunches that kids love to eat! The first hot lunch date is Wednesday, September 9th and orders must be submitted by Noon on Monday, August 31.

Soccer Signups Extended to Tomorrow!
There are four spots remaining on Embers’ fall Soccer Team! Soccer is open to incoming 4th & 5th Grade students with a maximum of of 18 participants. Practices and games will begin before the start of school and run through October. The cost to participate is $100/student. Don’t miss your chance; register today!

Next Saturday: Annual Dads Club Workday
Our amazing Dads Club, has organized a workday on Saturday, August 22 to assist with completing our playground beautification project! All dads are welcome to join us for a fun morning:
- 8:30 a.m. – Optional Mass at Our Lady or Ransom
- 9:00 a.m. – Work begins at Embers
- 12:30 p.m. – Lunch for all!
Whether you’re a novice willing to help or a highly skilled professional, we could use your hands and muscle installing swings, moving basketball hoops, and other (smaller) projects. There will be lots of food and fellowship, too! Please let us know if you can help by signing up HERE.

Cross Country Team
Cross Country sign-ups are still open for incoming 3rd-5th grade students. Practices will begin before the start of school, with Meets starting in September. The cost to participate is $50/first student and $30/ additional sibling.

Medical Reminders:
- Medical Forms are required for students who will be starting their First year of PreK, entering Kindergarten and 2nd Grade, as well as those who are new to Illinois. These forms can be found on the Parents Resources Page of our website and are due by the September 2nd Back to School Fair.
- Student Health Disclosure: All students who have been diagnosed with a medical condition (such as allergies, asthma, diabetes, etc) must complete a Health Disclosure Form annually. This form can be found at the bottom of the Parents Resources Page of our website.

Required Reading Reminder
Students have one month left to finish their required reading book for this fall. As a reminder, all students entering Kindergarten – 5th grade have one required book to read this summer. These books will be discussed in class when students return in the Fall. Click HERE for more information about your student’s required book.

The rain and mud were no match for Embers dads Aldo Diaz, Patrick Cusack, Eric Wischhover, and Tony Esquivel, who successfully installed five rock-style benches for our Playground Beautification project. Several students have already tested and approved these new additions for play and rest!
