A very exciting National School Choice Week has been planned! This year Embers will incorporate our “Charity Challenge”, the school-wide effort initiated during Advent to encourage students to focus on acts of kindness towards others. Each day next week has a theme:
MONDAY – “Uncle Pete’s” Brown Bags – All-School Assembly: 8:30 a.m.
‘Uncle Pete’ Zonsius, a Niles resident, quietly brought donations to the poor and homeless for decades. Although he died in 2012, his efforts to help others continues. Carolyn Murphy from “Uncle Pete’s” will be our guest speaker at the morning assembly. She will talk to the students about serving others and ‘challenge’ them to return the brown paper bags she distributes on Friday, filled with the listed items. All the lunch bags will then be donated to the poor and homeless.
TUESDAY – “Crazy for Kindness” – Crazy Socks Day
All students are encouraged to wear crazy socks with their uniforms.
WEDNESDAY – “Hats Off to Virtue” – Wear a Crazy Hat!
Students are reminded to wear their uniforms and wear hats that are fun but appropriate for Embers
THURSDAY – “Ride the Wave of Kindness” – Beach Day
All students are invited to “add on” beach attire (Hawaiian shirts, sunglasses, etc) to their school uniforms.
FRIDAY – “Spark Team Virtue” – Embers Spirit Wear Day (Out-of-Uniform)
All students are asked to wear their Embers Spirit Wear for this fun, OUT of UNIFORM Day. Please remember to bring back your FILLED Brown Paper Bags for the needy on Friday!
