First Communion

Please keep our 2nd Graders in your prayers as they prepare for their First Communion on May 22nd.  It will be held at St. Mary of the Angels.

Niles Police K-9 Contest

Embers Third Grade Sparks submitted their own drawings of a new Niles police dog named “Rocket.” The Third Grade is excited to participate and hope to win the contest! The poll will be closed on Friday,  April 23.  Thank you to everyone who voted!

The Preschool Class displays swords, shields, wands, and wings which they created for the feast of St. George!

Dismissal Reminder

A friendly reminder to please enter the campus at the North Entrance when picking up your children at the end of day. Please do not enter off of Normal Street as it disrupts the dismissal process.  Thank you for your cooperation.

Are you working from home and need a break in your day?  Come on over to Embers and volunteer as a recess monitor!  Come one day a week or everyday, between 11:15 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

Recess Equipment Needed

If you happen to be cleaning out your garage, and need a home for your gently-used outdoor equipment, we are looking for donations of recess equipment, such as jump ropes, balls, Skip-its, etc.

We are still accepting sleds — those in good shape or new — which we will store for next year’s use.  Thank you to those families who have already contributed to our recess equipment!

May 1 – Feast of St. Joseph the Worker

This feast shows us that there must be great dignity in work, as St. Joseph taught Jesus human work.  “Through work man not only transforms nature, adapting it to his own needs, but he also achieves fulfillment as a human being.” Saint John Paul II

Year of St. Joseph

The following are brief explanations of the titles of St. Joseph recited in the Litany to St. Joseph.

Joseph, Prudent and Brave  – Each time Joseph knew the will of God he acted decisively and swiftly. He was not rash or timid  but acted wisely and with courage. Now, more than ever, our society  needs fathers who can combine understanding with authority to guide their children and prepare them to meet the circumstances of life with courage.

Joseph, Obedient and Loyal – St. Joseph listened to God the Father with his heart and obeyed with intentionality.  He stayed by the side of Mary and Jesus and protected them.
