Embers’ Literacy Week
November 3-7
It’s nearly time for our annual Literacy Week. Join us as we “Fall into Reading” with a week that is unbe-leaf-ably fun! A few highlights include:

- D.E.A.R. = Drop Everything and Read
Students will have impromptu reading time all week. Please make sure your students have a quality book that is appropriate for their reading level.
- Bookmark Contest
All Sparks are invited to participate in the annual Bookmark Contest. One winner will be selected per grade and each student will receive a bookmark with their grade’s winning design.
- “Pumpkin Pages” Reading Log
Students will receive a “Pumpkin Tracker” full of fun ideas for reading at home. All Sparks who turn in a completed reading log will receive a fun treat.
- New! Pumpkin Decorating Contest (Optional)
Families are invited to decorate a pumpkin to look like their favorite book character. All Sparks will vote on their favorite pumpkin and the family with the winning design will win a prize!
Complete Literacy Week details – including bookmark templates, reading logs, and more! – will be sent home on Wednesday, October 29.

Jump-start your Christmas shopping at the Embers Book Fair! Books are perfect for stocking suffers and grab bags. Join us in-person at Embers’ lobby, or set up an account to shop online by clicking HERE. Our school receives 20% of sales towards books for the school. Lobby shopping hours:

Join Northridge teacher Russell Fernandes and Embers dad Jince Lukose for an interactive discussion on how to confidently navigate this next stage of parenting. Coffee & Convo: Cultivating Diligence
Wednesday, October 22 | 9:15-10:30 a.m.
Join us this Wednesday for “Coffee & Convo” as we dive into October’s Virtue of the Month: Diligence. Featured speaker Jeanne Petros will share her wisdom and practical insights on cultivating this important virtue within our families. Together, we’ll explore what diligence truly means and how we can live it out in our homes and daily lives. Don’t miss this inspiring and enriching conversation!

Photos are live! Emails from VIP Photography have been sent with your student’s picture day proof. If you have not received an email, please click HERE to access your photos. If you are not purchasing a photo package, you can still select your student’s photo for yearbooks & class composites.
For students who would like to re-take their photo, VIP Photography will be back on campus on Monday, October 27. Please email Mrs. Casaletto and let her know that you’d like your student to have their photo re-taken by Friday, October 24.

Out of Uniform on Halloween
Celebrate Halloween with an out-of-uniform day! Students may come to school in black & orange, or their favorite Halloween shirt. No costumes, please.

The Spark of Virtue Award is given to students who have been nominated by faculty and staff for actively living the virtue of the month.
