Dress out of uniform in red, green, or your favorite Christmas shirt. Your students will be extra-festive for the classroom Christmas parties!

Honesty: Our December Virtue
On Friday, our Sparks learned about December’s virtue, Honesty. Students were then challenged to perform “honest work” at home in order to earn canned good donations to help others. A flier was sent home Friday with more information. Donations will be accepted through Friday, December 16.

Presenters Mary Pat Fahy and Sandra Checri will walk us through making our own Christmas centerpieces. $10 donation to cover the cost of materials. Bring a small container or small foil pan.

This month’s presentation will focus on strategies for providing affection and discipline. Previous attendance not required; all are welcome to join the discussion! The Power of Water
Special guest Dan Feltes, Principal Civil Engineer with the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, brought an Erosion Table to our campus on Thursday. Students in grades 2-5 were able to see first had the power of water to erode, move, and – at times – destroy!

We are one month into our Annual Fund campaign and motivated by the generous support of our families. While we are making strides toward our goals, we are not there yet.

Poinsettia Pickup
Thank you to all the families who supported the Embers Parents Association’s Poinsettia fundraiser! Poinsettias will be available for pickup this Friday, from 2:00-2:45 p.m. and 3:15-4:30 p.m. Please note that there will be no pickup between those times to allow for dismissal.

Feast of the Immaculate Conception
Next week’s all-school Mass will move to Thursday, December 8 in honor of the feast of the Immaculate Conception. Families are welcome to join us at 2:15 p.m.

Cold Weather Bag
Blue Cold Weather Bags have been sent home for each student. We ask that you fill these bags with gear for snowy days: a pair of snow pants, mittens, boots, etc. The students will be using these items during outdoor play and the bag will be sent home after each use to be “dried out”. (PK families, please refer to your teacher’s email for instructions on winter outerwear.)
