The tulips and crocuses are beginning to emerge — just in time to receive a frosty dusting of snow in a few days! Spring is the season for new beginnings. Lent offers us a beautiful opportunity to renew our faith and rediscover our personal relationship with Christ.

As we ready ourselves for things anew, Embers is too! Planning for the 2021-2022 school year has already begun! Early enrollment is an integral part of shaping our plans and making important decisions. 

Waitlists are anticipated for most grades. Acceptance of many wonderful new families is very exciting and begins March 20. We encourage you to re-enroll your current student and new children in your family now so there is no delay in your students’ 2021-22 placement.

All current Embers families received a 2021-2022 Re-Enrollment Contract via myEmbers! portal that every family should have previously established. The deadline for current families to re-enroll is Friday, March 19. New families will begin to be accepted on Saturday, March 20. 

It is anticipated that there will be a waitlist for several of the grades. Please submit re-enrollment contracts and enroll new children in your family at your earliest convenience.

In honor of St. Patrick’s Day this Wednesday, March 17th, students are welcome to come out of uniform dressed in their greenest and most Irish attire!  If a student chooses not to wear green, they must come dressed in their full Embers uniform.  We look forward to celebrating this special feast day with our Sparks! 

Terra Nova testing for grades 3, 4 and 5  will take place the week of March 22nd. Please make sure your children are well rested and have adjusted their sleep routine in conjunction with Daylight Savings Time.

It’s almost impossible to believe that the Third Quarter will come to a close on Friday, March 19th. Report cards will be sent home in the Blue Friday Folders on March 26th.

On Thursday, the Fifth Grade class was privileged to have a Zoom Author Visit with Fr. Mike Giesler, author of the books Junia, Marcus, and Grain of Wheat.  Fr. Mike is a priest of Opus Dei and lives and works in St. Louis, Missouri.  His books are available from Scepter Press.

If you travel out of state to high-risk areas during Spring Break and/or attend gatherings, we suggest that you try to be back at home by the morning of Wednesday after Easter (April 7), giving you 5 days before returning to school to make sure that everyone is healthy. If your travel plans have you returning after April 7th, please contact Mrs. Reardon (kreardon@embersacademy.org) to receive guidance on a return-to-school date for your children.

Registration is required. Two informational presentations will be held: 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., each followed by a tour and Q&A with the Head and Asst. Head of School.

Delta and Rangers Father-Son Clubs

Rangers and Delta assist fathers in their effort to raise men of character.  The programs combine talks on virtue with attractive father-son activities.  

• Rangers takes place bimonthly on the second Sunday of the month from 2-4pm.  The upcoming dates are March 14 and May 2.

• Delta occurs monthly on the third Sunday of the month from 2-4pm, March 21 and April 18.
