Isn’t it Sweet: Literacy Week Ahead!
|
|
Monday marks the start of Literacy Week, the culmination of our month of literacy. Teachers will be encouraging students to read, write, and find creative ways to celebrate the gift of literacy all week long:
- Drop Everything and Read (DEAR): Each day during Literacy Week, teachers will provide a 20-minute time slot for students to ‘DEAR’. Please make sure that your students all have a quality book to read that is appropriate for their reading level.
- Hansel and Gretel Puppet Show: We will highlight the traditional fairy tales, characters, and themes that tie into ‘Reading is Sweet’ with a puppet show presentation of Hansel and Gretel on Monday.
- Read-A-Thon: Our Read-A-Thon wraps up on Thursday as our Sparks race towards their final reading goals. Thank you to all who’ve been participating! Funds will go toward the enrichment of literacy education for our students. All Read-A-Thon pledge money must be turned in by Friday, March 31st.

Literacy Week Book Fair
The Literacy Week Book Fair will take place this Wednesday & Thursday in our front lobby. All families are welcome to stop in during the day, before/after mass, or around their student pick-up time to peruse our awesome selection of books. The Mastermind Behind our Artists!

A warm “Thank You!” to Denise Wasserman for once again guiding our Sparks in the creation this year’s Extravaganza artwork. Mrs. Wasserman begins working with our students long before the event to create custom, priceless works of art that feature the talents of every student (and some teachers!) in grades 3-5. Her talent and passion shine through in their beautiful creations and we are forever grateful for her dedication to our Sparks!

Our Dreams Continue to Grow!
As the excitement of Extravaganza – followed by Spring Break – slowly returns to normal, we have a moment to reflect on how strong our community continues to be. Surpassing our goal and raising over $317,000 was not our only success! Our featured video, “Dream an Embers Dream”, was shown on Extravagana evening and spoke of Embers Academy’s role in helping fulfill the dreams of our parents and students. We continue to work towards the realization of all our Sparks’ dreams!
